K Schafer was the fourteenth Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police. Schafer served as commissioner for only a brief period due to an unfortunate illness which resulted in his death in 1987. While Commissioner he appointed the first minority Deputy Commissioner, Lt. Col. Ronald M Sharpe. Schafer was also a strong advocate for a state-wide physical fitness program for the department. |
