The Pennsylvania State Police 1962 FLH Duo-Glide (Pan Head) Harley-Davidson Police Motorcycle was retired in 1976.
This Vintage Classic   Motorcycle was used to during special events such as parades, civil disturbances, the "Rodeo", President, John F. Kennedy's Motorcade and other special details. It was not however, used as a highway patrol vehicle. It is equipped with saddlebags,  "PSP" emblems and "State Police" lettering on windshield.

In 1989, after a 50 year hiatus, the Pennsylvania State Police returned to patrolling the highways on motorcycle. Twelve Harley Davidson motorcycles were purchased to help enable troopers to travel and maneuver through major densely traveled highways where conventional vehicles can not respond quickly.
