Fingerprints used to be
manually searched, one million fingerprint cards on file would take about 65 years to
complete. The automated technolgy used by the Pennsylvania state Police today, (A.F.I.S.)
can accomplish the same task in about 30 minutes.

| The Records and Identification Division of
the State Police is responsible for the classification and filing of fingerprint records
