Crime Scene Forensics

In 1932, the State Police established a Photographic Section and a small Crime Laboratory Division. Later that year the first polygraph was purchased and a Criminal Intelligence Division was formed. The Collection and analysis of physical evidence left at a crime scene plays a vital role in the arrest and conviction of a suspect.

Today, the Bureau of Forensic Services is located in Department Headquarters, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with four regional offices in Wyoming, Bethlehem, Lima, Greensburg and Erie, comprised of the Operational Support Division, Scientific Services Division and Quality Management Division.
